Katie Kernodle M.A.

Katie Kernodle M.A.

Pre-Licensed Therapist

While I draw from a range of interventions in my practice, my overall approach is alliance-centered, which means I believe effective therapy happens within the context of a real, working relationship built on honesty, trust, and a shared commitment to therapeutic goals. Lasting growth doesn’t happen with techniques or advice, but through a genuine connection that allows us to identify difficult patterns, understand their purpose, and learn how to respond differently.

In terms of personality, you can expect me to be thoughtful, curious, and earnest. I pay close attention and will offer observations and working hypotheses for your feedback, challenge or support when needed, and make deliberate clinical decisions in service to your goals. Therapy can be hard work, but I will be working alongside you.

For the process to be effective, I also ask that you show up consistently, speak as honestly as you can, follow through on agreed-upon homework, and offer clarification or feedback when something isn’t right. I’ll help you sort through your options and think them through carefully, but you remain in charge of your life.

Above all, I consider it a tremendous privilege to get to know my clients and hope that comes across in my work. I truly believe that we are all carrying burdens and doing the best we can with what we’ve been given. If you feel stuck in self-destructive patterns that have taken a toll on your work, relationships, or sense of self, you don’t have to deal with it alone.

“No one is obliged to take part in the spiritual crisis of a society; on the contrary, everyone is obliged to avoid this folly and live his life in order.”
