“Just tough it out” isn’t the answer

In a work culture that expects you to be able to turn off your emotions, seeking support for your mental health can be difficult. Exposure to the dangerous and often traumatic situations you face on a daily basis can take a toll on your physical and mental health. Access to professional, non-judgmental support should be an important and normal part of your job.

If you're struggling with:

We can provide the support you need

Sea Glass Mental Health

Therapy for first responders and service members can help:

The stressful nature of the situations you face daily can lead to increased anxiety, panic disorder, depression, and a higher risk of suicidal thoughts. Therapy offers a supportive space to address these struggles, feel understood, and get the support you need.
Not being able to save everyone, or surviving when others didn’t can have a significant impact on your mental well-being. Therapy can help you cope with the burden of survivor’s guilt, process your experiences, and find ways to honor the losses you’ve experience.
The demands of your career, including deployments, unpredictable schedules, and a heavy emotional load can make it difficult to feel positive emotions and connect with loved ones. Therapy can help you find ways to reconnect and make the most of the time you are able to spend together.
Consistent traumatic experiences can be difficult to process emotionally and substance use can become a way to self-medicate. Therapy can help you find healthier coping strategies, providing the support and addiction recovery tools you need to break the cycle and regain control of your life.
The trauma you have endured can bring flashbacks, nightmares, hyperarousal, and avoidance of emotional triggers. Therapy provides a safe space to address and manage these symptoms, helping you regain a sense of safety and security.
Moving from a military or a first responder career to civilian life can feel overwhelming. You may struggle to a shift in pace and identity. Therapy helps you navigate this transition by tackling the changes that can leave you feeling, alone, isolated and lacking in purpose as you move to civilian living.

Frequently Asked Questions

You are not required to receive a referral from your PCP in order to see a therapist on our team. If you are using Tricare West insurance, military members and their family are not required to receive a referral. External referrals available if needed for additional treatment, therapies, or medication management
Not only does our team have specialized training to support military, first responders, veterans, and their family members, but some of our therapists have lived experience as well. Our team has training in various therapy modalities, including EMDR, brainspotting, trauma-focused CBT, and DBT, which have been found to be effective in treating trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges that can arise as part of your job.

Learning about post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or another mental health condition will help you empathize with a loved one who suffers from it. Listening to them without judgment and encouraging them to see a therapist who is experienced in PTSD can go a long way towards helping them heal. You can also help them in practical ways, like doing household chores or accompanying them to appointments.

It can be emotionally draining to support someone suffering from PTSD, so remember to take care of yourself as well. You may find it challenging to support a loved one suffering from mental health issues, but it is incredibly rewarding to see them thrive with your help and support.

It can be emotionally and physically draining to support someone suffering from PTSD. In this situation, self-care is critical. Seeking support is the first step in getting the help you need. Therapy can provide the validation, tools and care you need to continue to show up for your family without burning out.
In our professions, strength, resilience and courage are valued attributes. These admirable qualities should not deter us from seeking help when we need it, especially when it comes to our mental health. Just as we prioritize our physical fitness and training, we must also prioritize our mental and emotional well-being. Unfortunately, there has been a long stigma associated with seeking mental health support. The fear of judgement, consequences or repercussions has prevented many of our colleagues from reaching out when facing mental health challenges. Seeking help for mental health concerns is a sign of strength not weakness. Sea Glass Mental Health fosters a culture of empathy, understanding, and support.
Sea Glass Mental Health assures that your privacy and confidentiality are of the utmost importance to us during your mental health therapy sessions. What you discuss between you and your therapist is kept strictly confidential. Our primary goal is to create a safe and trusting environment where you can openly share your thoughts and feelings without fear or judgment of disclosure to others. Your well-being is our top priority, and we are here to support you on your journey towards better mental health. Your trust in our therapeutic relationship is valued and respected.

Therapy is billed per session and can be canceled at any time.

The cost is $240 for the initial evaluation and then $180 for subsequent sessions. Our Pre-Licensed Counselors offer sessions at $60.

We offer a prompt-pay discount for same-day payment. If you pay the same day as your session, we have a cash rate of $175 for intake and $150 for subsequent sessions.

Many insurance plans are accepted. Please see our fees and insurance page for more information about which insurances we are in network with.
